1971年生まれ。栃木県那須塩原市出身。
東北大学工学部を卒業後渡米し、1997年バークリー音楽大学ジャズ作曲科を最優等(Summa Cum Laude)で卒業する。作曲をグレッグ・ホプキンス氏に、ジャズ・ヴァイヴをデイヴ・サミュエルズ氏に師事。チャールズ・ミンガス・アワード受賞。2011年第1回小田原賞作曲コンクール入選。
現在、株式会社ミュージックエイト・作編曲家。開成ジュニアアンサンブル代表。開成町教育委員。開成町文化団体連絡協議会会長。気象予報士。
代表作としては『未来への飛行』(21世紀の吹奏楽 第8回「響宴」出品作品)などの吹奏楽曲の他、『久石譲作品集3』などのニュー・サウンズ・イン・ブラス、そしてミュージックエイトに多数のポップス・アレンジがある。
Naoyuki Honzawa was born in Nasu-shiobara city of Tochigi prefecture, Japan in 1971. He now lives in Kaisei-cho of Kanagawa prefecture, Japan. After graduating from Tohoku University School of Engineering, he moved to the United States to attend the Berklee College of Music, where he majored in Jazz composition, and graduated at the top of the honor list in 1997. He studied Composition under Greg Hopkins, and Jazz Vibes under Dave Samuels. He is a winner of the Charles Mingus Award. He acquired a weather forecaster license in 2003. He joined Music Eight, Inc. in 2009 as a composer/arranger. His notable works include wind-instrument music such as "Flying into the Future" (Enterd piece for "KYO-EN VIII, Prosperous Future For Band into The 21st Century"), "Canopus", as well as many pops arrangements for Music Eight and New Sounds In Brass.

Completed the Yamaha Music System Instructor Trainee Course. After that, she received a scholarship from Berklee College of Music in Boston as a piano major in the commercial arrangement department. She won the “Barnes & Noble Books Award” for her own composition ”Blue Moonstone”. Joined Berklee instructor Frank Wilkins's band as a keyboardist. While studying abroad, She also served as a tourist guide for Japanese in Boston.
Currently, as an instructor of YAMAHA MUSIC SCHOOL, she teaches students from 3 years old children to adults. Produces top prize winners in competitions, etc.
She studied piano with Makoto Takenaka, Alex Elin, and Hiroshi Aiba, electric organ with Kyoko Mikuni and Masako Kudo, and arrangement with Richard Evans.
